After a break of eight months from television, singer Shaan's is back as the host Voice of India's second season on Star Plus. Shaan spoke to us about his break and what made him come back to the small screen.



On his hiatus from television: I did some recording and some live shows. Sometimes you know you need to think about what you are doing. It is just been 8 months that I was away from hosting. I also wanted to be with my family and wanted to relax a bit. Even when we record everyday we get fed up and want to have a break from that schedule as you kind of become robotic. So I think it was good that when I took the break from anchoring I started recording and when I started anchoring I took a break from recording.


On why he didn’t host VOI last season: Another reason for not doing the last season was because I do not like competition between kids. My personal opinion is that it looks odd and not good. There is right time for everything. I think kids need time to grow, even though some of them are wonderful singers. But here they grow up too soon, they get too much exposure, there is too much pressure on them here, parents also start expecting a lot from them. To make children associated with entertainment is not that I am comfortable with.

On VOI’s upcoming season: We are going to talk about various social issues in the show apart from singing this year. We will discuss this with contestants that what they think about it and what is their take on it and what they think about these social issues. We will not dramatize it but we will show their stories and struggles. There will be various issues and if somebody will remember it later on after watching the show then we will feel that we have done our job.

Voice of India 2 will go on air on July 18th at 10pm.
