Star Parivaar misses it's oldest 'sadasya'
Have we forgotten good ol' Ekta Kapoor?
The promos for Star Parivaar flooded the channel so badly for the last few weeks, it was impossible not to switch on the television set at least once to take a look on D-day. So we did. And we got hooked.
A glitzy, glittery award ceremony with the fresh faces of Star Plus actually made us sit through the entire show on TV. It of course had it's dull moments, but the thought of what was coming up kept us going.
However, we missed Ekta Kapoor. The lady with the big bindi who always took her throne on the very first row at every Star Parivaar award ceremony for as long as we can remember was too conspicuous by her absence. We even missed the Tulsis and the Parvatis. Not for too long though. The newest faces of television managed to keep us quite entertained.
The comic acts were quite boring but thank god for all the dance reality shows, most of the actors dance quite well. And it's kind of nice to see those you see on your idiot box everyday dance around once in a while. Yudhisthir and Rani (Kapil and Anjali) being Nach Baliye contestants put up an excellent show and so did Shaleen-Daljit. The couple who came as a surprise package were Star Dopahar's Mohan and Bhakti of Hamari Devrani. They can really dance! What however came as a bigger surprise was that Akshara and Naitik who bagged most awards couldn't dance at all!
But hats off to Rajan Shahi for not only getting back Star Plus back on track with two hugely popular shows but also getting some of the most lovable fresh faces on TV. Ragini, Sadhna, Alekh, Ranvir, Naitik and Akshara ruled the entire event. And well, their family members Daadi, Mamaji, Dhaniya and everybody else added to the Star Parivaar essence more than Ekta Kapoor's family ever had. Most of them even dressed the way they do in their respective soaps.
Nobody even mentioned Ekta once, which was somewhat sad. Nor did her remaining shows get any Parivaar awards. But trust Ekta to make a grand entry. The final award Favourite jodi went to Ekta's Prem and Heer from Kis Desh Mein… and they did not forget to thank their mentor. To tell you the truth that's when we actually realised that the queen of soaps was not there this season. Looks like the next generation of Parivaar members are already here!
