Scene: We see a couple in the West Wing of the same hospital. Wife Sumita, who was unconscious, asks her husband where her baby was. Her husband says he will inquire and leaves. As he steps out of the room he finds himself amidst a crowd in the corridor and asks for the reason. He is told that a fire had broken out in another wing of the hospital. He sees the doctor who did his wife’s delivery and asks about the baby and where it was. The doctor asks the man to accompany him into his cabin.
Scene change: Mausi is searching Sudha with Lambu. They ask a nurse. And finally find her unconscious under the debris of a burned desolated room. They manage to free Sudha from under the debris and ask for the First Aid to be given to Sudha.
Scene: The doctor informs the man that his wife had given birth to a dead baby. The man tells that it was for the third time his wife had born a dead child and she wouldn’t survive the shock this time. “Doctor do something!”, says the man. A nurse enters holding the baby (Roshni) into the room and informs the doctor that this child’s mother (Sudha) was still missing and perhaps she didn’t survive the conflagration. As the doctor tells the nurse to keep the baby for the time being with other babies and the nurse prepares to leave, the man steps forward and addresses the nurse. She remains standing. The man turns to doctor and again to nurse.
What otherwise would happen to the baby-girl, says the man to the doctor. The baby-girl was an orphan now and would grow up in an orphanage, finally. He was not any bad guy who would sell the girl somewhere. She would grow up as his daughter. Since it was the duty of a doctor to save lives, he would save two lives, that of his wife and of this child. In return the doctor would be rewarded with blessings. It was all up to the decision of the doctor now. The man swears never to tell anybody about this. The doctor asks the nurse to bring the baby to him and discovers the Tilak-mark on her shoulder. Finally the doctor gives the baby-girl to the man. It is all by the blessing of Guruji, the man says.
Scene: Sudha with bandaged forehead and limping continues her search still in the burned wing of the hospital. Mausi and Lambu assist her. Sudha must pause for a while, she feels dizzy. As Mausi goes to fetch water for Sudha, she discovers Roshni’s pink baby- garments/quilt and the taabiz that the baby-girl was wearing.
Scene: Sudha asks some personnel about her daughter. She is told that an orphan girl was found lying near the rest room. Sudha is told that all children were now in the maternity ward of the West Wing. Mausi approaches Sudha with that taaviz in her hand and Sudha tells Mausi that her baby was alive. It was in the other wing...
Scene: Man gives Roshni to Sumita and says: You were screaming as if someone was running away with your daughter. Sumita says that she was a mother now and nobody would call her a banjh anymore. Call home to inform everybody and give the news especially to our mother. The husband tells that all lines had broken down in the conflagration and there was no connection now. Sumita discovers that tilak like mark on Roshnis shoulder. The man says it was a very auspicious sign.
Scene: Sudha reaches the maternity ward of the West Wing and inquires hysterically about her baby that was found near the restroom. The nurse tells her that there was not any such child there. All children had found their parents. The doctor has noticed Sudha's entry and her hysteria. Sudha searches her baby on each mother's side, till she finally reaches the doctor and asks him where her baby was. The nurse interferes and says that Sudha will find her baby later. Sudha is enraged and replies hysterically she wanted her baby now. Her baby had dark hair and a Tilak-like mark on her shoulder, Sudha explains to the doctor. The doctor replies: “Oh, so that was your baby-girl.” END
