Brave Lisa Ray lands new role

Lisa’s killer disease cannot bring her down. Not only is she bravely attending the premiere of What’s Cooking Stella in Toronto, she has also signed on to star in a Charles Sobhraj biopic alongside Sanjay Dutt.



Percept Pictures is already making a film on the same subject with Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead and this film is a separate project altogether.

The film has been titled The Serpent Flies and Prawaal Raman is the director. About Lisa’s casting, he says, ‘Lisa is the female protagonist in the film as Charles’ love interest. After hearing about her illness I was wondering if bringing up work would be wise. But she assured me that she’s on. I'm in touch with her regularly. I'm sure she'll be able to shoot quite comfortably. We'll make sure of that. I can't even dream of replacing her.’
