An Award ceremony which Aamir Khan was a part of
The impossible happened in Mumbai.Awards show hater, Aamir Khan was present at an awards function held in Mumbai. The 8th Kelvinator Gr8. Women Awards 2009 held at ITC Grand Maratha saw Aamir making a surprise entry and enthralling many present but at the same time charging up the entire atmosphere of the event for good.
Conceived and founded by Anu and Shashi Ranjan, Gr8! Women Awards held its 8th annual felicitation function on the lawns of ITC Grand Maratha on Tuesday, 24th Feb. The awards were given in a total of 21 different categories to women achievers from all over the country. The event was attended by some very prominent celebrities like Kumarmanglam Birla, Yash Chopra, Harman Baweja, Roop Kumar Rathod, Alka Yagnik, Prem Chopra, Farah Khan and many others..
Aamir said he was delighted to be in such august company of strong and independent women - “God created both man and woman and she created them equal” he quipped.
Aamir is well known to have reservations about these award shows and has never been seen at one. His reasons are simple… he doesn’t believe in such honours and the way they are conducted. When Aamir bagged the National Award for Lagaan, his father Tahir Hussain went to accept it.
Aamir Khan has come a long long way since his Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak days. His performances seem to be getting better with each movie. Also, where Aamir Khan scores over other actors is, in the quality of the movies he has starred in. Most of his movies in recent times like Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti have been classics.
Aamir Khan’s magnum opus Ghajini who took the nation by storm by earning a record 200 crore even when the world’s economy is down in dumps is incredible.
Is it Bhuvan in Lagaan? DJ in Rang De Basanti? Raja in Raja Hindustani? Or even the supporting role of Ram Shankar Nikumb in Taare Zameen Par? And who can forget his performances in Sarfarosh, Andaaz Apna Apna, Ishq, Ghulam… Phew the list is endless..
Wish you reconsider your reasons to hold a truely deserving award and share the smile and achievements with your die hard fans. You simply Rock Aamir!!
