I've crossed my fingers that the Met Office is right and we're in for a hot summer. It's high time we had a break from the past few damp squibs - after all, a bit of sunshine has a wonderful feel good effect.
But I am concerned people may go mad and risk burning, increasing their chances of skin cancer, especially in the light of recent misleading reports claiming we're short of vitamin D because we're not getting enough sun. Vitamin D is nicknamed the 'sunshine vitamin' because although it's found in some foods, it's mainly made by the action of direct sunlight on our skin.
